About the IMU Library
The International Medical University Library was established in 1993 to cater for the needs of students and academia of the University. The branch libraries which are located at the Clinical School at Hospital Seremban and Clinical School Batu Pahat houses materials for students and academic staff at the Clinical Schools as well as Hospital Seremban and Hospital Batu Pahat staff involved with clinical teaching. The library collection consists of books, non-book materials, interactive stations and databases on medicine, pharmacy, healthcare and related field.
The Library is located on the third floor with a floor space of approximately 20,000 sq.ft. There are a total of 725 seats comprised of several types. A concept of quiet and noisy area was introduced when the library moved to this new footprint in mid-2008. A Collaborative Study Area is designated for active group discussions. However, noise level should be kept at the lowest so as not to disturb other users. On the other hand the Quiet Study Area is designated for private and quiet study. Discussions are strictly not allowed. Patrons are expected to proceed to the phone room available in this area to make or receive phone calls.
There are eleven discussion rooms available for small groups of 4-8 users for collaborative work. These rooms are not intended for individual use. At the moment they are on a first-come, first-served basis. However if the rooms are left unoccupied for more than 15 minutes, personal belongings left behind may be removed if the rooms are needed by another group.
A cafe is available at the lobby of the library. While this cafe is situated in a noisy area, patrons are expected to minimize their conversations to prevent the noise from being heard at the nearby study areas. Food is only allowed to be consumed within the cafe area.
